Transportation and Parking Services announces improved pricing structure for OHIO’s Fleet Rental services beginning July 1

Beginning July 1, 2018, Ohio University faculty, staff and students who utilize Transportation and Parking Services’ (TPS) Fleet Rental service will experience a new rental rate structure that will offer reduced pricing options for local travel, transparent mileage-based travel charges and a streamlined process for vehicle refueling.

The modified Fleet Vehicle Rental rate structure will focus on providing customers with reduced rental charges, particularly for those with short distance and service learning travel requests; weekly and monthly vehicle rental rates will be available for those with extended travel needs, too.

Additionally, the new pricing structure will incorporate up-front fueling charges to provide enhanced fleet rental cost transparency and allow for improved travel budget forecasting at a departmental level. Customers will also be provided with a Voyager fueling card at the time of vehicle dispatch instead of relying on a University Purchasing Card.

Tia Hysell, interim manager of Transportation Services, said that the new fleet rental rate structure was the result of numerous collaborations with, and input from, campus stakeholders during the past year.

“TPS is committed to providing quality service and meeting the needs of our customers. Seeking and receiving operational feedback is an important part of our team’s process.” Hysell said. “We’re confident that our new fleet rental rate structure makes the most sense for campus users, and we look forward to exploring opportunities to further improve our service and system efficiencies to best serve our customers.”

OHIO Transportation Services' rental fleet currently offers daily, monthly, and long-term lease options for Ohio University faculty, staff and students traveling for university business. The fleet is comprised of sedans, SUV’s mini-vans, 8/12 passenger & cargo vans.

Vehicles can be reserved daily, weekly or on a long-term basis. All charges incurred must be billed to a current University or student account, and all drivers must possess a valid U.S. driver's license.
