iCUE Spotlight: May 3-9, 2018

Hello Bobcats! It's hard to believe that it's Week 16 - and that we're flying into the end of spring semester! OHIO students, we wish you all the best as you finish your finals! And this weekend brings along one of the biggest events of the year: Commencement (read more below)! To stay in the loop as we head into this annual weekend of celebration, keep tabs on the CUE! The CUE, Ohio University's official Calendar of University Events, is the best way to help you keep track of it all - from ceremony schedules to parking updates.

Spring Graduate Commencement (Friday, May 4, 9:30 a.m., Convocation Center): OHIO's master's and doctoral degree recipients will be celebrated on Friday! Dr. Devika Chawla, a professor in the Scripps College of Communication’s School of Communication Studies and recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award, will deliver the graduate commencement speech. Tickets are not required.

Leadercast (Friday, May 4, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m., Schoonover Center): To be the best leader you can - you've got to learn to lead yourself. Attend Leadercast Live to learn from world-renowned experts about the qualities and characteristics of global leaders who exemplify what it means to lead yourself. Speakers include Joe Torre, Hall of Fame baseball manager; Andy Stanley, leadership communicator and bestselling author; Catherine Hoke, founder and CEO of Defy Ventures; Ian Cron, bestselling author, psychotherapist, enneagram teacher and speaker; Mae Jemison, NASA astronaut, engineer and physician - and many more! OHIO Track and Field | OHIO Open (Friday, May 4, 2 p.m., Goldsberry Track): Don't miss your last chance this year to see OHIO Track and Field on their home turf, Goldberry Track! They host their final meet of the season (prior to the MAC Championships which will be in Buffalo) featuring athletes from Capital, Rio Grande and Waynesburg and the action will begin at 2 p.m. Admission is free for all, so get out there and back the 'Cats!

Spring Undergraduate Commencement (Saturday, May 5, 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., Convocation Center): Congratulations graduates! Allie LaForce, a 2011 Ohio University graduate and Emmy-nominated reporter and anchor for CBS Sports and Turner Sports, will deliver Ohio University’s 2018 Spring Commencement addresses

We celebrate the undergraduate Class of 2018 in two ceremonies and tickets are not required for either ceremony. The morning ceremony is for graduates of the:

  • College of Business
  • College of Fine Arts
  • Fritz J. and Dolores H. Russ College of Engineering and Technology
  • University College
  • Regional Higher Education
  • Scripps College of Communication

The afternoon ceremony is for graduates of the:

  • Honors Tutorial College
  • Center for International Studies
  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education
  • College of Health Sciences and Professions
