Ohio University has been named to Phi Theta Kappa’s 2018 Transfer Honor Roll, which recognizes four-year universities for their accomplishments in creating effective community college transfer pathways. 

“The entire University deserves credit for this honor, as it recognizes the campus-wide commitment to helping our transfer students succeed,” said Rob Drapcho, director of transfer, international and online initiatives for Undergraduate Admissions. “This is the third consecutive year OHIO has received this distinction—it shows that this is a foundational component of our institutional mission.”

Universities considered for this honor are evaluated on their efforts in community college collaboration, pre-transfer institutional support, post-transfer student engagement and support, and transfer innovations.

Drapcho pointed to OHIO’s accomplishments leading to the award: equivalency guides for courses from institutions around the country, embedded OHIO staff at partner community colleges and the Strategic Transfer Educational Plan (STEP), which provides personal transfer advising to students who are enrolled in community college.

“As an added benefit to complement the academic planning included in STEP, students also benefit from the financial savings cost predictability of joining The OHIO Guarantee prior to their enrollment in an OHIO degree program,” Drapcho said. The OHIO Guarantee is a cohort based, level-rate tuition, housing, dining and fees model that assures rates established at enrollment remain unchanged for 12 consecutive semesters.
