Unity Walk set for Monday, March 26

Ohio University’s annual Unity Walk will be held on Monday, March 26, beginning at 4:00 p.m., and all students, faculty, staff and area residents are invited to take part in this important event.

Sponsored by the International Student Union, the Unity Walk will begin near the first floor entrance to the Baker University Center. Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis and International Student Union President Carla Triana will offer opening remarks and officially begin the walk.

After the walk, refreshments will be served and several speakers will offer additional comments inside Walter Hall room 235. In addition, there will be time for those in attendance to socialize and get to know one another before the event ends at 5:30 p.m.

The speakers at the Walter Hall portion of the event will include:

  • delfin bautista, director of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Center
  • Students who will discuss their experiences growing up in Iraq, as well as in Appalachia.

The Unity Walk is held each year as a way of recognizing that just as the world is becoming more and more unified, Ohio University students, alumni, faculty, staff members and area residents are also unified.
