The Interlink Alliance to celebrate 10th anniversary, hold fifth faculty and student development conference in March

Numerous higher education faculty, students and administrators will gather to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Interlink Alliance program during its fifth faculty and student development conference March 15-17 at the Greater Richmond Convention Center in Richmond, Va.

"As we celebrate The Interlink Alliance's 10th anniversary, we look forward to highlighting its historic legacy of access, opportunity and fostering student and faculty development," said Dr. David Wilson, Chair of The Interlink Alliance and President of Morgan State University.

The faculty and student development conference, hosted this year by Virginia Commonwealth University and The Interlink Alliance, provides higher education instructors the opportunity to share best practices in teaching and learning, discuss research on teaching and learning processes and establish relationships with faculty from other Interlink Alliance campuses.

This year’s conference, themed "Cooperative Learning and Engagement in the Classroom and Beyond,” will feature presentations from numerous higher education thought leaders and provide informative sessions that emphasize the importance of faculty and student development.

"The central purpose of The Interlink Alliance has always been the development and preparation of African-American students to learn, live and lead in the 21st Century,” said Founder of The Interlink Alliance and President Emeritus of Ohio University, Roderick J. McDavis.

Dr. Damon A. Williams, one of the nation’s recognized experts in strategic diversity leadership, youth development, corporate responsibility, educational achievement, social impact and organizational change, will join the conference as the event’s main keynote speaker.

Dr. M. Duane Nellis is looking forward to attending his first Interlink Alliance conference as Ohio University’s 21st president.

"The Interlink Alliance conference is a wonderful opportunity for faculty and students to network and develop ideas for improving learning, future research, grant writing and other scholarly activities," said President Nellis. “This conference is just one of the ways that OHIO is working to achieve its goal of supporting the mission of all institutions committed to student education, diversity, development, engagement and leadership."
