Ohio University Press novel receives coveted Publishers Weekly star

The Exctinction of Menai (http://www.ohioswallow.com/book/The+Extinction+of+Menai) (March 2018), by Nigerian writer Chuma Nwokolo, has received a rare starred review from Publishers Weekly, the lead trade publication for publishers and booksellers. Calling the novel of a medical trial gone wrong “poignant, thrilling, and funny,” the review lauds Nwokolo for “brilliantly [distilling] his branching plot into a singular portrayal of a threatened culture.” The book is the latest in the press’s Modern African Writing series.

Two Ohio University Press books named Outstanding Academic Titles by Choice

Choice—the reviewing service for academic libraries—has selected Ohio University Press’s Ken Saro-Wiwa (http://www.ohioswallow.com/book/Ken+Saro-Wiwa) (from the Ohio Short Histories of Africa series) and Viet Nam: Tradition and Change (http://www.ohioswallow.com/book/Viet+Nam) (coedited by retired OU professor Elizabeth Collins) as 2017 Outstanding Academic Titles.
