OUPD welcomes Captain George Harlow

George Harlow has joined Ohio University Police Department as its newest captain. Harlow began duty on July 11, 2016.

Harlow’s most recent assignment was as a lieutenant with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, where he served as the Post 5 Commander covering the counties of Athens and Hocking. He is a graduate of both the John Glenn College of Public Affairs at Ohio State University and the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University. He has served across the state of Ohio during his career with the OSHP, including assignments in northwest Ohio and at the training academy in Columbus, but has spent the majority of his time in southeast Ohio.

“I am excited to welcome Captain Harlow to OUPD,” said Chief Andrew Powers. “Not only is he a familiar face from his work at football games and other assignments on campus, he also brings with him a wealth of knowledge, training, and leadership experience. By every measure, he is well regarded by his troops and also by those to whom he reports.”

In his role as a captain, Harlow will oversee policy and procedure development, the communications center, internal investigations as well as other duties.
