Bobcat chosen as CASE ASAP district representative

Tracy Kondrit, an Ohio University sophomore studying middle childhood education, has been selected as the District V representative for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education Affiliated Student Advancement Organizations (CASE ASAP).

Kondrit is a member of OHIO’s Student Alumni Board (SAB), which is a CASE affiliate that crafts philanthropic and professional events to connect Bobcats with Athens community members and the OHIO Alumni Association.

“Tracy has shown herself to be a wonderful asset to the Student Alumni Board and the OHIO Alumni Association already in her freshman year,” said Katrina Heilmeier, associate director of campus relations for the OHIO Alumni Association. “Tracy will be representing OHIO to a large national audience by serving on the executive board for CASE ASAP while showing the nation the great work that happens at OHIO.”

Kondrit said joining SAB was the best decision she made during her freshman year as a Bobcat – one that she had no idea would get her to where she is now.

“I was pretty shocked. I never really considered the idea that I'd get selected,” Kondrit said. “It took a while to sink in, but I'm so excited to get started and I just feel really lucky to be a part of this.”

During her upcoming, two-year position as CASE ASAP District V representative, Kondrit will be responsible for assisting in the development and growth of CASE ASAP. According to CASE, CASE ASAP is a national organization that overlooks more than 300 member institutions, like alumni associations and student foundations, to help create and increase student involvement in educational advancement.

Kondrit will be required to attend several annual meetings and conferences while maintaining regular communication with advisers and students in District V, helping to cultivate new student advancement programs and more.

While serving as a representative, Kondrit plans to focus on increasing communication within all of District V. District V is composed of member organizations in six states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

“I want to create an environment where we feel comfortable sharing ideas with one another, because there's some really incredible stuff going on. Hopefully, it will become a community that works together to advance one another's organizations,” Kondrit said.

Within just a little over a year, SAB has won three CASE awards: the 2015 Outstanding Organization award, the 2015 Silver CASE Award for Best Student Alumni Initiatives for SAB’s Homecoming Spotify playlist and the 2016 Outstanding Programming award for the Finals Week Survival Bag Random Act of Kindness Program.

“The people are easily the best part of SAB. I'm constantly surrounded by high-achieving, hardworking individuals who inspire me every day to be a better version of myself. You couldn't find a more supportive environment. Everyone wants one another to succeed,” Kondrit said. “The love I have for this organization is indescribable.”
