Ohio University Press dominates Washington Post African politics summer reading list

The Washington Post’s political science blog, The Monkey Cage, recently announced its selections for the 4th Annual African Summer Reading Spectacular.

Ohio University Press has six titles, more than any other press, on the list, confirming its status as a leading publisher in African studies.

The Ohio University Press books are African Miracle, African Mirage: Transnational Politics and the Paradox of Modernization in Ivory Coast by Abou Bamba; Making the Mark: Gender, Identity, and Genital Cutting by Miroslava Prazak; The Riddle of Malnutrition: The Long Arc of Biomedical and Public Health Intervention in Uganda by Jennifer Tappan; and three Ohio Short Histories of Africa biographies of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Thabo Mbeki, and Julius Nyerere.

The list also includes OHIO professor of political science Brandon Kendhammer’s book Muslims Talking Politics (University of Chicago Press). Kendhammer’s book on Boko Haram is forthcoming from Ohio University Press in its Ohio Short Histories of Africa Series.
