Highlights from OHIO's official Calendar of University Events (CUE)

Summer officially begins and Bobcat Student Orientation and first summer session wrap up this week so things are really heating up! Students, remember all summer final exams are scheduled for the last class meeting so study hard and finish strong! But even if you're getting ready for finals, everyone can stay in the loop of what's happening on campus by visiting the OHIO Calendar of University Events (CUE)

The CUE is the University's official online calendar and event and deadline information from all OHIO planning units and registered student organizations on all campuses is welcome. Plus anyone with an OHIO ID can add events, so don't hesitate to let us help you spread the word about your event.

Here are a few highlights from the week ahead:

(Sunday, June 18 through Friday, June 23, McCracken Hall): The Patton College of Education hosts "Modeling with Algebra: Advanced Teacher Capacity," a year-long professional development opportunity for high school teachers. Modspar incorporates on-campus seminars and presentations and online training to provide teachers in grades 9-12 with enhanced mathematics teaching skills. So the teacher has become the student, and CEU and graduate school credit is available. A second Modspar program for geometry teachers will begin July 16!

(8 a.m. Tuesday, June 20 through 5 p.m. Saturday, June 24, Schoonover Center): High school students will come to Athens, live on campus, interact with OHIO MDIA faculty and advanced students, and participate in hands-on workshops to learn the latest techniques in audio, music, video, animation, social media and other areas.

(opens 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, Athena Cinema, 20 S. Court Street): Beat the heat and enjoy family-friendly movies at the Athena! They'll supply raffles, giveaways and other activities, the movies and the air conditioning. You'll supply a minimum donation of $2 and all ticket proceeds will benefit Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Athens County. It's a win-win! The series opens June 23 with a 7 p.m. screening of "Ferris Beuller's Day Off" and continues June 24 with a 3 p.m. screening of "The Neverending Story." There's a different film and lots of fun and surprises each Saturday until the final screening on Aug. 5.

#CUEtip: Remember, you can add events from the CUE directly to your personal calendar! Start the process with two clicks on any event page: click the "Share It" header and then click a calendar-shaped icon -- a blank calendar downloads an iCal file you can add to your Outlook calendar and a calendar with a grid adds the event to your Google Calendar. You can also send reminders via e-mail and text message from that same spot!

Visit calendar.ohio.edu/admin/setupevents.aspx to log in with your OHIO ID and add your organization or department's events to the CUE. Feeling lost? Visit www.ohio.edu/calendar/help/ or e-mail calendar@ohio.edu for help.
