Students, faculty and staff invited to celebrate National Dump the Pump Day on June 15

On Thursday, June 15, Ohio University students, faculty and staff are invited to celebrate National Dump the Pump Day by using their Bobcat Pass to ride Athens Public Transit free of charge.

Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the 2017 National Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to take them where they need to go, instead of driving a car. While the City of Athens will be observing the day by making all Athens Public Transit routes free for everyone, OHIO students, faculty and staff can ride Athens Public Transit for free year-round by showing their University ID.

Ohio University Transportation and Parking Services is encouraging any OHIO community member who has not yet used Bobcat Pass to try the service for the first time on Thursday, June 15 to celebrate National Dump the Pump Day.

Ohio University partnered with Athens Public Transit in June 2016 to launch Bobcat Pass and since then, the free transit program has exceeded expectations for ridership numbers, resulting in more than 2,500 users and over 100,000 individual rides.

For more information about routes and schedules, visit www.athenstransit.org. To view Athens Public Transit routes and see real-time bus tracking, visit https://aptcats.doublemap.com/map/ or download the DoubleMap app.

All Athens Public Transit vehicles are accessible and can also transport bicycles. With expanded evening hours, routes through Athens, The Plains and Chauncey and marked stop locations, riding Athens Public Transit has never been easier for OHIO students, faculty and staff.
