Changes announced to International Student and Faculty Services office

The following message was sent by Vice Provost for Global Affairs and International Studies LJ Edmonds to the OHIO community on Friday, May 19.

Dear University Community,

I am writing to announce some important changes in our International Student and Faculty Services (ISFS) office to ensure our ability to serve the needs of Ohio University’s international community. As you may know, the role of ISFS is to do our utmost to facilitate our international students’ and scholars’ arrival, orientation, immigration, and support their success in our community. We have spent the last month and a half meeting with student and administrative stakeholders to develop a plan that ensures that we maintain and enhance the quality and diversity of services that OHIO offers to this important community of ours. Over the next year we plan to take the opportunity to evaluate the needs of our international constituents and determine the best way to meet those needs. During this transition period, I have appointed an interim leadership team.

For the next year, Diane Cahill, director of operations, will serve as interim director for ISFS in addition to some of her current duties. Diane has been at OHIO since 2009 and has held a leadership role in the Office of Global Affairs and International Studies since 2011. In her current role, Diane has managed the international partnership portfolio. She supported the Tun Abdul Razak Chairship, led the support team for coordinating multiple international delegations, and supported the Global Leadership Center in its transition from interim direction to permanent directorship at the beginning of the spring semester. In ISFS, her focus will be the relationships with the University community and the global stakeholders of ISFS in support of our international students’ and scholars’ success at OHIO.

Jennifer Nisevich, assistant director, will serve as interim associate director for ISFS leading the immigration compliance for the University. This includes supervising the advising staff and serving as head Designated School Official (DSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) for OHIO. Jen joined OHIO in 2016 and has been managing the day-to-day advising operations for ISFS since her arrival. Jen comes to OHIO with 12 ½ years of immigration advising experience.

Diane and Jen will take on their roles on May 20 to ensure an immediate transition to the new leadership and support for our international community.

Please feel free to contact me (edmonds@ohio.edu) or Diane (cahilld@ohio.edu) or call 740-593-4330 if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Lorna Jean Edmonds
