On The Green Weekend whips up OHIO nostalgia and Bobcat pride

On The Green Weekend, Ohio University’s spring homecoming, gave alumni the chance to travel back to Athens for a weekend full of nostalgia and laughter.

Since 2014, the spring event takes place during the most beautiful time of year in Athens. This year it was held from May 17 to 21, and included new and popular events alumni look forward to each year.

Alumni were welcomed back to Athens with guided tours on Wednesday. Thursday Bobcats returned to the classroom -- minus the tests -- for the Alumni College. There they were taught about dinosaurs, ethical decision-making they could make as consumers and delved into the travels of Mark Twain.

The Alumni Leaders Conference (ALC), an annual gathering for alumni chapter and society volunteers, kicked off Friday morning.

“It gave me a lot of insight on some things I can incorporate into my recruitment efforts for the EBN [Ebony Bobcat Network] in Chicago,” Clarence Harris, BS ’67, said.

The Celebration of Volunteerism Awards Ceremony directly followed the ALC.

More than just the Burrito Buggy brought back blissful memories. “OH, I dO!” allowed 14 couples to relive their wedding day by renewing their vows in Galbreath Chapel.
