End-of-the-year student festivities include ‘Zoo to yOU,’ TBT concert featuring Shaggy

Ohio University’s University Program Council (UPC) is ready to ring in the end of the academic year with two free events designed to provide students a study break before finals while channeling their inner child.

The festivities kick off on Tuesday, April 18, when UPC will be hosting “Zoo to yOU.” Scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. on OHIO’s South Beach, this free UPC-sponsored petting zoo will feature kangaroos, a yak, miniature zebus and sheep, alpacas, goats and more. Students will be treated to free camel rides as well as giveaways and prizes from OHIO’s Department of Housing and Residence Life and other organizations.

The celebration continues on Thursday, April 20, when UPC teams up with OHIO’s Black Student Cultural Programming Board (BSCPB) for the fourth annual “TBT with UPC and BSCPB” concert, being held this year in the Baker University Center Ballroom. A free event, this year’s concert will feature Shaggy, a Jamaican-American reggae fusion singer and deejay.

Shaggy’s concert will begin at 6 p.m., but the event will kick off at 4 p.m. and will include airbrush T-shirts, hats and tattoos; free snow cones provided by Kona Ice; throwback trivia; a photo booth; and a pre-concert performance by DJ A-Rock.
