Meet March Classified Employee of the Month Linda Sinift

Great job Linda!

Compass features a Q&A with the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month. Each month, Classified Senate selects an employee to acknowledge and recognize as someone who is setting high standards for excellence and innovation. The monthly feature, titled "Great Job," provides a glimpse into the honoree's life on and off campus.

How surprised were you to win the Employee of the Month award?

I was so surprised. I did not have a clue. My supervisor got me on this one. He actually placed a budget meeting on my calendar two weeks ago so that is where I thought we were going.

What is your job title and how long have you worked it?

I am the administrative services specialist for Facilities Management on the Zanesville Campus. I have been with the University for 3.5 years in this role.

What are the most enjoyable things about your job?

Working with the great staff that we have. We all work together to make sure the campus runs smooth and I believe we meet the needs of the students and employees.

What is your hometown and where do you live now?

I live in Shawnee, Ohio, and have lived there all my life.

What are your long-term goals?

I have been working in higher education for more than 27 years. I just want to enjoy what I am doing and to do it well and enjoy life.

What was the last good book you read?

“How Many People Does it Take to Make a Difference?” It is very motivating.

If you weren’t in your present job, you would be working as a ______.

Medical examiner. I am so curious and I’m fascinated of how the body works and I love mystery.

What things in life are most important to you?

My family. I have been married for 27 years and we have two sons, Matthew and Garrett.

Where is your favorite vacation destination?

The beach. I find it so relaxing.

What are your hobbies?

I like to snow ski, take long walks and spend time with my family.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I work part-time out of my home as the fiscal officer for the township I live in.

What are your favorite TV shows?

I like “Law & Order SVU,” “That 70’s Show,” “Forensic Files” and I love watching baseball.

Who are your favorite musicians?

Adele, Aerosmith, Martina McBride and Aron Lewis. I like a wide range of music

What is the next big event you can't wait for?

Vacation in July and going to the beach.

Who are your favorite celebrities?

Tom Hanks because he is such a great actor. He can play any type of role. Sandra Bullock because she makes me laugh and gives back to our country.

Who are the most annoying celebrities?

The Kardashians – they don’t live in the real world.

What is your dream car?

Dodge Challenger

What is your favorite saying or quote?

“If you fail to prepare, then prepare to fail.”
