iCUE Spotlight: April 20-27, 2017

What's in the CUE this week at Ohio U.

The end of spring semester is nigh! Time really does fly here at Ohio University, and while we're sad to see another fantastic semester go and to say goodbye to many of our graduating Bobcats, we are so proud of all the accomplishments made and of our future OHIO alumni. But it's not over yet; there's still plenty to do before the last final has been taken and the residence halls empty!

Be sure to take advantage of all the great events happening on campus to make the final week of spring semester 2017 a memorable one. And remember, the Calendar of University Events (CUE) is the only official campus-wide calendar for Ohio University and anyone with an active OHIO ID can add events that are happening on all OHIO campuses.

Here are a few highlights from the week ahead:

COMS Capstone Project Campus Tour (Friday, April 21, 12:55 to 1:50 p.m., College Green - outside Baker University Center 4th floor): The students in Professor Roger Aden's communications capstone would like to say a unique farewell to Ohio University with a project aimed to preserve OHIO memories. Using information from the archives and alumni, these students have created a virtual walking tour and have been giving these tours throughout April. Don't miss the final presentation of this tour, which pairs photographs and documents from the Ohio University archives with personal stories from alumni. It's the perfect way to say a sweet farewell to spring semester!

Ohio University Postdoctoral Symposium (Friday, April 21, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friends of the Libraries Room, Alden Library 319): The contributions students make to the University's academic life can sometimes be overlooked but here's your chance to see and hear what they're doing in their own words. Postdoctoral students from academic disciplines throughout the University will present their research and all members of the University community are welcome.

School of Music Centennial Celebration (Saturday, April 22, 4 p.m., Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium): It's not every year that a school turns 100 and the School of the Music presents a very special celebration, starting with a concert that will feature virtually every ensemble in the School in a nonstop extravaganza of music (this event is free, but donations are appreciated). Immediately afterward, there will be an alumni reception on College Green where registered guests will be serenaded by the Marching 110 and the various School of Music student ensembles. Come out for a night of beautiful music!

International Student and Faculty Services Graduation Party (Wednesday, April 26, 3 to 7 p.m., Walter International Education Center): Part of the fun of commencement is the creative way some students decorate their caps. The ISFS team invites all graduating students to grab your graduation cap and join them at a decorating party! They'll provide decoration materials and snacks, you provide your cap and creativity, and let the fun begin!

#CUEtip: The Alert button allows you to schedule an email that will be sent to the specified address the morning of the event. If the event is one in a series, you’ll also have the option to send an alert for every occurrence of the event.
