OHIO Club Golf team qualifies for national championship for first time

The Ohio University Club Golf team qualified for the Spring 2017 National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA) National Tournament after winning both Ohio Valley regional tournaments this month. This is the first time the OHIO Club Golf team has qualified for the national tournament.

Eight members of OHIO’s team will be making the trip to Arkansas: Adam Gill, Nick Mohr, Alex Pfeifer, Jeffrey Hensler, Gannon Godsey, Kenric Grunwald, Cam Lang and Will Vosler. The team is currently ranked No. 9 in the nation. Lang placed first in the April 1-2 Ohio Valley Regional Tournament, while Hensler won the April 8-9 tournament.

“It truly feels great that our team was able to come out and play so well in both of our regionals,” said Gill, a sophomore studying civil engineering and the team’s president. “To be able to represent OHIO Club Sports [at the national tournament] is an honor and should be a ton of fun.”

Only 31 of more than 400 club golf teams across the nation qualify for the Spring 2017 NCCGA National Tournament, which is the largest collegiate golf tournament in the country. The tournament will take place April 29-30 at Hot Springs Country Club in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
