Teacher Job Fair attracts huge turnout for students and employers

On Monday, April 10, Ohio University’s Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) hosted the Teacher Job Fair in the Baker University Center Ballroom.

Students were able to network with schools and school districts from across the country, and were connected with recruiters to explore opportunities and practice their networking and interviewing skills during the one-day fair.

Networking with employers and students began promptly at 8 a.m. Employers allowed students to sign up for interviewing slots during which they could have a more in-depth conversation about the qualifications of the student and what the employer was seeking.

Carmen Mewhorter, a senior early childhood education major, said, “Being able to sit down and talk more in depth with school recruiters about my skills and what they are looking for allows me to make that connection and have an advantage when applying for post-grad opportunities.”

The Teacher Job Fair attracted more than 100 students majoring in education and brought in 57 schools and school districts.
