School of Music recognized with Ohio Senate resolution

The Ohio University School of Music was honored to accept state-level recognition in the form of Senate Resolution 47, initiated by Ohio Senators Frank Hoagland and Troy Balderson, at the statehouse in Columbus on March 7.

The resolution was adopted by the 132nd General Assembly of Ohio, both recognizing the 100th anniversary of the School of Music and articulating its valuable role in preparing countless students to meet the challenges ahead as capable and well-rounded individuals.

Chris Hayes, director of the School of Music, and Andy Trachsel, director of bands, were in attendance to accept the recognition.

“The School of Music appreciates the recognition from the Ohio Senate, recognizing our 100 years of contribution to the University and the state of Ohio. We see this year of celebration as a chance to look to the future with our community of students, staff, faculty, and alumni,” Hayes said.

Alumni and the extended School of Music community are invited to join together in Athens for a weekend of music, alumni events and student performances at the Centennial Celebration, April 21-22. Read more about the program online at ohio.edu/music.
