With spring officially here this week, the Department of Campus Recreation invites the Ohio University community to its inaugural Spring Fling event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 24, at the Charles J. Ping Recreation Center.
“Spring Fling is a new event that falls under our Social Programming Plan,” Meagan Wain, assistant director of the Ping Center and Walter Fieldhouse, said, adding that it is now one of four larger events that the department hosts throughout the year.
Wain noted that the event was inspired by an impromptu cookout the department hosted last spring, where they grilled food and set up some games on the center’s front lawn.
After the success of that event, Campus Rec staff decided to make it an official event as an end-of-the-year celebration.
The Spring Fling will feature food; games including volleyball, cornhole, kanjam, bocce ball, horseshoes and inflatable jousting; a photo booth; caricature artists; and more. The games will be set up all day for use.
This event is free for all OHIO students, and weather-permitting will be held on the front lawn of the Ping Center. Activities will be moved inside if necessary.
