Inaugural Najee E. Muhammad Memorial Lecture is March 1


For the inaugural Najee E. Memorial Lecture, Dr. Christina Preston Agiro will present on "Recovering from Overwhelming Whiteness: Learning and Unlearning Rules About Race" on Wednesday, March 1, at 7 pm in Galbreath Chapel.

Preston Agiro is an associate professor of teacher education at Wright State University.

The inaugural Najee E. Muhammad Memorial Lecture was organized by Jaylynne Hutchinson, an associate professor in educational studies, and Muhammad's widow, Robin Muhammad, who serves as chair of the Department of African American Studies.

Najee Muhammad died in 2014. He joined the faculty in 1996 in the Cultural Studies in Education program, situated in the Department of Educational Studies. During his tenure, he also served one year as the interim chair of the Department of African American Studies.
