From staff reports
After 13 successful years, Ohio University President Roderick J. and First Lady Deborah McDavis will say goodbye to the Bobcat Family during a celebratory farewell open house. The University and Athens community are invited to join Dr. and Mrs. McDavis on Tuesday, February 7 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Margaret M. Walter Hall Rotunda. President McDavis will give a brief farewell address during that time.
“We have called this community ‘home’ for 13 years and have made many lifelong friends,” President McDavis said. “Deborah and I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of this amazing journey. We encourage all to come celebrate the end of a very important chapter in Ohio University’s 213-year story and the end of the presidency of a very lucky couple.”
President McDavis’ last day at Ohio University will be Friday, February 17. His final weeks will be filled with working with Dr. David Descutner to successfully take on the role as interim President of Ohio University, and to participate in several important events: the dedication and grand opening of the newly remodeled McCracken Hall, his final development trip as president, the Ohio University Inventors Dinner, and a meeting of the Ohio University Foundation Board of Trustees.
To commemorate and celebrate President McDavis’ final month in office, Ohio University has created a farewell website: www.ohio.edu/mcdavis-farewell. All well wishes can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
