Comprehensive Master Plan 2016 open houses scheduled for Dec. 1 and 2

Students, faculty, staff and members of the Athens community are invited to participate in three interactive open house sessions to review draft ideas for Ohio University’s Comprehensive Master Plan 2016, which is in its final phase.

The first open house will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Athens Community Center. Two open houses on campus will follow on Wednesday, Dec. 2 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. and again from 4:30 to 6 p.m., both in the Walter Hall Rotunda. Representatives from University consultant Ayers Saint Gross will also be in attendance.

“We have received great feedback and collaboration throughout this process which has informed direction of where we are,” said Shawna Bolin, director of university planning and space management. “This is the campus’s master plan and we are excited to share and engage with the campus and community to further refine as we finalize the plan.”

The planning process is now in its fifth and final phase, which involves synthesizing all of the data collected and creating a master plan document with recommendations for the University for the next ten years. The plan, which will be presented to Ohio University’s Board of Trustees at its January meeting, will provide guidelines against which future development on campus is evaluated and considered.
The Comprehensive Master Plan 2016 process began in October 2014 to provide a road map and long-term vision for the next decade that celebrates the rich history of the University and addresses its future needs for years to come.
