Majors Fair is Sept. 16

College is an important step in preparing for the future, but when students aren’t sure about majors, it may be hard to take that first step.

University College provides students with information and assistance in making this important decision by encouraging students to attend the annual Majors Fair.

This year’s Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 in the Baker University Center Ballroom.

Lisa Kamody, co-chair of the Majors Fair Committee, said the Fair is a great opportunity for students.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for students to interact in a relaxed environment and ask questions to faculty from all the different majors. Usually, you rely on the course catalog. How often do you get the chance to see that catalog come to life?” Kamody said.

Students will have the opportunity to explore the more than 270 majors offered at Ohio University, as well as the numerous minors and certificate programs. Deans, assistant deans and faculty from the majority of the programs will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Even if students have already chosen a major, the Fair is a great opportunity to explore minors and certificate programs. The Fair is a university-wide event, and all current and prospective students are welcome to attend. Admissions staff will be in attendance to provide additional information to prospective students.

Along with declaring majors on-site, the Majors Fair offers information on internships, global opportunities such as study abroad, and academic services on campus. Students can receive this valuable knowledge, along with free cotton candy, popcorn and giveaways.
