Brown bag seminar to address Malaysian politics


Ohio University’s Center for International Studies will host a brown bag seminar on "Understanding Malaysian Politics," on Wednesday, Sept. 30, beginning at noon in Room 009 in the Yamada International House.

The discussion will be led by Jayum Anak Jawan, the Tun Abdul Razak Chair at Ohio University. The seminar will attempt to provide the tools necessary to understand the dynamics and dynamism of the new phenomenon in Malaysian politics. Addressing topics such as Malay dominance, inter-ethnic politics and the role of the Sarawak/Sabah in national politics, the event will be of interest to those familiar with the current state of Malaysian politics, as well as those who may not know much about Malaysia but are interested in learning more.

Free and open to the public, all students, faculty, staff and community members are encouraged to attend. The seminar is being organized by the Center for International Studies, the Office of Global Affairs and International Studies and the Department of Political Science.
