Updated Calendar of University Events launches with new features and improved usability

Ohio University’s central Calendar of University Events (CUE) launched this week with updated operations software designed to provide users with a more streamlined experience and new features.

The CUE is an important tool that seeks to help students, faculty and staff promote their on-campus events while providing the OHIO community with a one-stop aggregate for what’s going on around campus. The updated software is designed to improve the user experience for those who are viewing and submitting events.

What has changed?

  • The new system, Active Calendar, features a simpler interface with additional options for adding events, including:
  • The option to include attachments and images with CUE event listings.
  • The ability to include a brief summary of event information in addition to a full description in a rich text editor that accepts HTML formatting and links.
  • Enhanced event search features including the ability to pull RSS feeds, enable text and email notifications, share events via social media and tag events with keywords and categories.
  • The ability to customize each user’s view on the main CUE page including a list format or traditional block calendar.
  • The CUE is still mobile-responsive for easy viewing on a variety of devices.

What hasn't changed?

  • Anyone with an active OHIO ID is able to submit event information.
  • All submissions will be moderated and may be edited for grammar.
  • Adding events to the CUE is the only way that a campus event can be promoted via the University’s front door and via official OHIO social media channels.

The new calendar can be viewed at calendar.ohio.edu – and events can be added into the new system.
