Visit your old residence hall during Homecoming 2015

Take a walk down memory lane and tour your old residence hall at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9 during this year’s Homecoming Week 2015.

“This is the second year we have provided alumni the chance to visit their dorms, relive those memories and share them with their families,” said Dawn Werry, director of external relations for the Ohio University Alumni Association. “It was very well attended last year so we wanted to make the unique event available once again.”

All residence halls will be available for viewing, including OHIO’s newest residential housing complex, which celebrated its grand opening on Aug. 29.

The pre-requested dorms will be open and staffed, ready for registered individuals to tour the halls and reminisce. While a room may be opened for viewing it is not guaranteed that specific rooms can be opened, as students are currently occupying them for the school year.

“This is a great addition to Homecoming because people love to relive their good old days. This event allows our alumni to tell stories to their children and families while showing them one of the places where those wonderful memories took place,” Werry said.

In order to ensure that the requested residential halls are open for tours, registration is required for all attendees planning to participate in the event.

Other Homecoming 2015 events include the annual Paint the Town Green competition, a Pep Rally with the Marching 110 and The Singing Men of Ohio, and a National Coming Out Day SpeakOUt event. For a complete list of the week’s events and locations for each, visit ohio.edu/homecoming.

Be a part of OHIO’s 2015 Homecoming by sharing your stories with a photo and 6 words on Instagram. Inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s famous challenge to writers, #OHIOin6words aims to collect and celebrate the words and images of the Bobcat family. Starting Sept. 28, post your 6-word stories and use the hashtags #OHIO6words & #OUHC2015 to be entered into a daily drawing during Homecoming week. Click here for contest details.

All OHIO alumni are also invited to share their favorite Athens memories and stories for display during Homecoming 2015

From roommates to lifelong friends

“If it weren’t for Tiffin Hall, I would not have met some of my best friends that I have today – 33 years after meeting them in the fall of 1982. We come and go in each other’s lives, but when we come back together we always pick up where we left off – especially at Homecoming! I also know that I can turn to any one of them, and they will always be there for me. We really LOVE being Bobcats and value the time we've spent here! I even work here now, so they are my frequent guests!”
