CLDC hosting free workshops Sept. 14-17 in advance of Career, Internship Fair

Ohio University’s Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) is getting ready for its bi-annual Career and Internship Fair and will be offering Bobcats a week of workshops and events designed to equip them with the skills and techniques needed to succeed in the professional world.

The Fall Career and Internship Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, and Wednesday, Sept. 23, in Baker University Center. The CLDC’s “Prepare for the Fair” events will be held Sept. 14- 17 at various locations in Baker University Center. Ohio University students as well as alumni are welcome to attend these events at no cost.

Students who have participated in “Prepare for the Fair” workshops in the past will see many new events this semester, including free headshots to add a professional look to any LinkedIn account or online portfolio.

“Many of the ‘Prepare for the Fair’ events are new this year,” explained Erika Peyton, assistant director for employer relations and marketing at the CLDC. “Three of the workshops offered come from the Career and Leadership Development Center’s newest leadership program — the Professional Leadership Certificate. This means that students who attend all three workshops during ‘Prepare for the Fair’ will be well on their way to earning the full certificate.”

While students aren’t required to participate in the “Prepare for the Fair” workshops and events in order to attend the Career and Internship Fair, there are advantages of attending as many as possible.

“Put simply, students who attend ‘Prepare for the Fair’ workshops and events will be more successful at the Career and Internship Fair,” Peyton said. “They will have learned expectations for professional attire, how to develop a resume and communicate effectively in an interview, and how to sell themselves while networking.”
