Zanesville Campus dean appointed chancellor at Penn State Beaver


Jenifer Cushman, dean of Ohio University’s Zanesville Campus, has been appointed chancellor of Penn State Beaver, effective July 1, 2016. In addition to serving as chancellor of Penn State Beaver, Cushman will provide general oversight of the office of the campus director at Penn State Shenango in Sharon, Pennsylvania.

“Jenifer’s strategic leadership of the Zanesville Campus has been a great asset to Ohio University. We wish her the best as she begins the next chapter in her career,” said Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit.

As campus dean, Cushman led a strategic planning process that included faculty, staff, students and local leaders to identify the needs of the community and guide academic planning. 

“Jen’s leadership of the RHE globalization initiative has resulted in the potential for significant enrichment of the curriculum for students across all Ohio University campuses, and her inclusive strategic planning process for the Zanesville Campus sets a high standard for subsequent planning efforts,” Bill Willan, executive dean for the Regional Campus System, said of Cushman’s contributions to Ohio University. “Her experience at the Zanesville Campus should serve her well in her new role.”

Cushman spearheaded a system-wide Collaborative Online International Learning initiative to bring innovative international experiences to students in the Southeastern Ohio region utilizing distance technologies. In addition, Cushman has served on the OHIO Senior International Management Team and on an Ohio Department of Higher Education task force whose mission is to attract international students and increase international educational possibilities for students in Ohio.
