Registration continues for new Teen Adventure Camp

There’s still time for area teens to sign up for a new summer adventure program designed specifically for them.

Outdoor Pursuits, part of Ohio University’s Department of Campus Recreation, is launching a Teen Adventure Camp this summer, offering area teens an opportunity to hike, rock climb, canoe, paddleboard and backpack in and around the Athens area.

Open to teens ages 13 to 16, the weeklong camp will allow participants to learn introductory outdoor skills while creating new friendships. Based out of Ohio University’s Ping Recreation Center, the Teen Adventure Camp will include:

  • A high- and low-ropes Challenge Course on OHIO’s Athens Campus
  • Hiking and rock climbing at Hocking Hills State Park
  • Canoeing and stand-up paddleboarding on Dow Lake at Strouds Run Sate Park in Athens
  • An overnight backpacking trip to nearby Zaleski State Forest

All activities will occur under the guidance and supervision of trained trip leaders.

Registration for the June 27-July 1 camp has already been filled, but spots are still available for the July 25-29 camp.

The Teen Adventure Camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and costs $195 per person. The deadline to register is July 15, and the camp is limited to 10 participants.
