Judy Piercy retirement party will be held June 21

A retirement reception for Judy Piercy will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, in the 1804 Lounge in Baker University Center. All members of the University and Athens communities are invited to join the Division of Student Affairs in celebrating Piercy’s 27 years of service to Ohio University and wishing her much happiness in retirement.

Piercy joined OHIO’s Division of Student Affairs in 1989 as the assistant director of residence life on East Green. During her tenure, she has held many leadership positions within the division, including assistant vice president of student affairs, director of residence life, associate director of residential housing and director of university judiciaries.

Since July 2013, Piercy has served the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost as the University’s ombudsperson, working to provide confidential support and resources for Bobcats as they move through their educational and professional journeys. In addition, Piercy serves as a special projects coordinator with the Division of Student Affairs, the Office of the Provost and the Office of the President. The Tobacco-Free Initiative and implementation of the Disability Strategic Plan for Accessibility and Inclusion are among the initiatives that she has helped to spearhead.

“Interacting daily with young adults has kept my mind nimble and my heart full. Interacting with staff and faculty across campus has taught me collegiality and the gift of healthy debate. Interacting with this breathtaking campus and the Athens area has kept me centered. I am most grateful for the plethora of people, experiences and opportunities that have shaped my amazing life!” Piercy said.
