Area first responders to hold fire training exercises at Brough House May 13-15

Exercises to include all fire departments in Athens County, provide emergency response training

UPDATE (5/12/16): All training exercises have been canceled due to scheduling conflicts.

County-wide first responders, in partnership with Ohio University, will be conducting on-site training exercises May 13-15 at Brough House on Ohio University’s Athens Campus.

“This training will be a great benefit to the community by improving the response capabilities and knowledge for all participating agencies,” said Athens Fire Department Chief Robert J. Rymer.

The trainings are scheduled to begin each day around 8 a.m. and will complete at approximately 6 p.m. Brough House, located on OHIO’s South Green, is currently unoccupied in connection with the Athens campus Capital Improvement Plan and the Housing Master Plan.

Passersby should expect to see fire equipment, emergency vehicles and other scenery that is typically associated with a fire emergency. Smoke is not anticipated to be visible during the exercises.
