Students say 'Thank You' for Walter Fieldhouse donor support

Student representatives from Intercollegiate Athletics, Campus Recreation, Academics, Army ROTC and others gathered to say “Thank You” to donors during the dedication of Walter Fieldhouse on Aug. 25; the facility will positively impact the lives of Ohio University students across the spectrum.

From early morning ROTC physical training, to mid-morning football practice, to afternoon classes and late night marching 110 rehearsal, OHIO’s students will make excellent use of Walter Fieldhouse. In the first few days of class alone, the Fieldhouse was occupied for an average of 20 hours each day, and will continue to support classroom instruction, recreational activities, athletic practices and large-scale special indoor events throughout the year.

Lead donors Robert D. and Margaret “Peggy” M. Walter were joined by Alan and Ruby Riedel, Bill Dillingham, Randy and Jan Wallake, G&J Pepsi-Cola of Athens and over 450 other donors, with gifts and pledges totaling more than $11.15 million in combined support for Walter Fieldhouse—including gifts from alumni from all 10 of OHIO’s academic colleges.
