Center to host leadership series for first-year students

Information session to be held Sept. 4


Ohio University’s Career and Leadership Development Center encourages all first-year students to engage in leadership development by participating in its Foundations Leadership Experience Program. An information session on the program will take place Thursday, Sept. 4, in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center in Baker University Center 366 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The certificate-bearing program will begin next week and will include sessions held over the course of the following six weeks. In addition to defining and strengthening their leadership skills, participants will have the opportunity to expand their networking capabilities while meeting other first-year students and participating in community service projects.

The Foundations Leadership Experience Program officially kicks off next week with the program “Bobkittens to Bobcats: Beginning Your Journey.” This session will be offered Monday, Sept. 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and again on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held in the Amanda J. Cunningham Leadership Center.

Follow-up sessions will include:

  • Week 2 – Athenian Wisdom: Reflecting on Your Reactions
  • Week 3 – Declaring Your Independence: Identifying Your Values
  • Week 4 – Bobcat Branding: Shaping Your Leadership Style
  • Week 5 – Connected since 1804: Networking and Career Preparation
  • Week 6 – Bobcats Care: Community Service Project
