From staff reports
Ohio University’s Office of Sustainability has announced a variety of programs and events available for students, faculty, staff and alumni participation this fall, including the following:
Sustainable Ohio University Leaders (SOUL): SOUL is the implementation arm of the University’s Sustainability Plan and Climate Action Plan. Faculty, staff and students are invited to engage in weekly conversations about progress, potential opportunities and troubleshooting roadblocks. Meetings occur from 3:30 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday in Baker 239.
Sustainable Investing Advisory Committee (SIAC): SIAC stands for Sustainable Investing Advisory Committee, a student organization that offers hands-on experience managing real financial portfolios for OHIO. Students in SIAC work collaboratively with peers and University administrators to develop guidelines for financial portfolios that incorporate environmental, social, and governance evaluations. To learn more, email email@example.com.
Recruitment Night: Students are invited to learn more about SIAC, SOUL and other sustainability efforts at OHIO for an informational session and can eat free pizza at 7 p.m., Sept. 8 in Baker 231.
Campus Farmers’ Markets: The on-campus fall markets (sponsored by the Campus Involvement Center) will kick off at 11 a.m., Sept. 12 at Howard Park. The Office of Sustainability will provide free reusable lunch totes so visitors can easily pack sustainable lunches all year. Stop by early to guarantee a tote (one per person, while supplies last). The event continues until 2 p.m.
Homecoming Parade: The Office of Sustainability will feature a person-powered display at this year's OHIO Homecoming Parade. If interested in participating, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Campus Sustainability Day: Follow the Office of Sustainability on Twitter (@SustainableOU) to engage through a live-tweeting event as part of Campus Sustainability Day on Oct. 22. Staff will work with Facilities Management and other campus administrators to identify sustainability-related opportunities on-campus and troubleshoot solutions. Then, a reception will be hosted at Baker 1804 Lounge where visitors can learn about the energy consumption of the Baker Escalators. Stop by for free refreshments or to engage in the Costume Swap.
Costume Swap: Don’t break the bank this Halloween. Stop by the 1804 Lounge (First Floor Baker) from noon to 2 p.m., Oct. 22 with an unwanted costume to donate and select a new-to-you costume to wear this year, at no cost.
All events are subject to change. For up-to-date information about Office of Sustainability opportunities, please visit http://author.oit.ohio.edu/sustainability/Calendar.cfm.
