Zanesville Campus stop wraps up regional visits to discuss global strategy (PHOTOS)


Lorna Jean Edmonds, vice provost for global affairs and international studies and professor of health sciences and professions at Ohio University, along with Jenifer Cushman, Zanesville Campus dean and member of the Senior International Management Team for Ohio University, have visited all five of the regional campuses to discuss the University’s international strategy as it relates to each of the regional campuses according to campus interests and capacity.

Edmonds, who joined Ohio University from the Université d'Ottawa where she served as executive advisor for planning and research, has a distinguished record as an educator and researcher in the fields of international development, global health and health policy, community-based rehabilitation and social policy reform. “I hope to gain a better understanding of the regional campus philosophy on blending education, research and service and how best to capitalize on the distinctiveness of the regional campuses from the perspective of internationalization,” Edmonds said.

Edmonds along with Catherine Marshall, director of global opportunities, and Krista McCallum Beatty, director of International Student and Faculty Services, visited the Zanesville Campus where 18 faculty and staff took part in the conversation.

The Global Strategy session was well attended. Those who attended the Zanesville session included Gail Hayes, Nina Henderson, Jason Howard, Janelle Hubble, Joseph Keating, Rhonda Moore, Christine Shaw, Linda Sinift, and faculty members Shadi Abu-Baker, Susan Dowell, Nancy Hamblin, Sheryl House, Colleen Romito, Larry Tumblin, Pam Sealover, Deborah Stockwell and Christy Vickers. In addition, Pramod Kanwar, professor of mathematics at Ohio University Zanesville, connected through Adobe Connect from India.

The Zanesville Campus is proud to have 17 international faculty representing 12 countries on its teaching staff; in fact, fully one-third of Zanesville’s full-time faculty members were born outside of the U.S. These individuals and other faculty members promoting international partnerships are committed to teaching in the region, but are active in their respective areas of research as well.
