In a message sent to the Ohio University community on Wednesday, Dec. 10, President Roderick J. McDavis announced a change in the position of the secretary to the OHIO Board of Trustees.

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

Dr. Peter Mather has announced plans to step down from his position as Secretary to the Board of Trustees effective June 30, 2015. Following his resignation from the Board of Trustees, Dr. Mather will continue to serve in his faculty role, as an Associate Professor of Counseling and Higher Education with the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education. In addition, he will continue to help involve more faculty in service-learning and community engagement activities with the Center for Campus and Community Engagement.

Please join me in thanking Dr. Mather for his excellent service to Ohio University’s Board of Trustees. He is a valued colleague whose sound leadership, strong inter-personal skills and deep understanding of higher education issues have been invaluable to the progress and effectiveness of our Board of Trustees in recent years. We wish him continued success in his contributions to Ohio University and its students.

To prepare for a smooth transition, the Board of Trustees has requested that we form a search committee to conduct an internal search to identify the next Board Secretary. Our goal is to identify Dr. Mather’s successor by the June board meeting to allow for an optimal transition. The position will remain a half-time position and the position description and requirements will be finalized in the coming weeks.

Again, we thank Dr. Mather for his service and dedication to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.

Cordially,

Roderick J. McDavis
President
