Sibs Weekend is Feb. 6-8

The first family weekend of the year is almost here! Ohio University will welcome older and younger siblings to campus for Sibs Weekend, Feb. 6-8. OHIO will offer numerous entertaining events. Ticket information for all events can be found at http://www.ohio.edu/parents/familyweekends/05.cfm.

Additionally, Ohio University Alumni Chapters will offer round-trip bus transportation from the Akron and Cleveland areas to Athens, and the proceeds will benefit the chapter’s scholarship fund. More information about ticket purchases can be found at http://www.ohioalumni.org/sibs.

Some of the most anticipated events include:

Entertainment
•  On Saturday, Feb. 7 at 8 p.m., rapper Waka Flocka Flame will perform at the Templeton- Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. The Black Student Cultural Programming Board hosts a concert every year for some of the most popular names in music. Tickets can be purchased at the Memorial Auditorium box office.

•  Ohio University Program Council is hosting a Glo Party in the Baker University Center Ballroom on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This free event offers glow cotton candy, glow laser tag, glow-in-the-dark air brush tattoos and more.

Sports
•  The OHIO Bobcats Men’s Basketball team will host the Eastern Michigan Eagles at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 7. General admission tickets are $20, but students can purchase $5 student section tickets for their sibs.

•  OHIO Bobcats Hockey will take on the Oklahoma Sooners at Bird Ice Arena on Friday, Feb. 6 at 7:30 p.m., and again on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Student tickets are $6 with a student ID and all other tickets are $8. All tickets are general admission, and children under 5 are free. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

•  The OHIO Women's Basketball team will face Kent State University at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Convocation Center. The Lady 'Cats are 17-3 this season, leading the MAC. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are free for students with an OHIO ID; general admission tickets are $5 each.

Outdoors
•  Outdoor Pursuits will host Zipline Adventures on Saturday, Feb. 7 and Sunday, Feb. 8 at The Ridges Challenge Course. Time slots for the event run from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with each slot lasting one hour. Tickets are $25 per person and cover instruction, equipment and an optional shuttle to The Ridges. Sign up early to secure your spot.

•  Outdoor pursuits will host a hike through Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills State Park on Saturday, Feb. 7. Bring your sib to this scenic region to see waterfalls, sandstone cliffs and rock formations. Tickets are $20 per person and include transportation and guide staff. Transportation will depart at 10 a.m. and return at 3 p.m.
