Great job Patti Malloy!

Meet the July Classified Employee of the Month

Compass features a Q&A with the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month. Each month, Classified Senate selects an employee to acknowledge and recognize as someone who is setting high standards for excellence and innovation. The monthly feature, titled "Great Job," will provide a glimpse into the honoree's life on and off campus.

How surprised were you to win the Employee of the Month award?
I was very surprised. I think I was in shock. I think I only heard half of what the Classified Senate members were telling me when they were presenting me with the award.

What is your job title?
I am an administrative associate in the Center for International Studies. I have been at the Center for two years and at the University for almost five years.

What are the most enjoyable things about your job?
I love working with the students. They really keep me motivated to do all I can to help them. I also love working with my coworkers. I think we have a pretty good bunch of people here.

What is your hometown?
I grew up in a small town, Glouster, Ohio. I have lived in Shade for about 27 years and I love this area.

What was the last good book you read?
"Entwined with You" by Sylvia Day. It is a romance novel and is book three of a Tetralogy Crossfire series.

If you weren't in your present job, you would be working as a ___.
I would be a party planner. I love planning parties.

What things in life are the most important to you?
Absolutely my family and friends! We now have two grandkids that we just adore.

What is your favorite vacation destination?
I have a few. I really love the ocean so I would have to say Myrtle Beach. I also love going to the mountains and I really like the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area in Tennessee.

What are your hobbies?
Honestly I don't really have time for hobbies. After working, taking classes, and keeping up with the everyday stuff around the house, it leaves little time for hobbies. I like to keep our grandkids whenever I can on the weekends so you could say they are my favorite hobby. Any other free time would be spent with our friends and family.

What is something that most people don't know about you?
I used to ride a Harley. Now I just enjoy sitting on the back of my husbands, when we get the chance to ride.

What are your favorite TV shows?
I don't watch a lot of TV but when I do, I like to watch NCIS, Law and Order, American Pickers, and Pawn Stars.

Who are your favorite musicians?
I like any musician that plays classic rock. Every once in a while I like to listen to some country, especially the older country music.

What is the next big event you can't wait for?
There aren't really any big events in the near future. I would have to say when my daughter gets married would be one. The only other thing I can think of is going back to the beach with our friends for vacation.

Who are your favorite celebrities?
I like to watch Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Steven Segal, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Matthew McConaughey and Will Smith. They are all really good actors.

Who are the most annoying celebrities to you?
Honey Boo Boo has to be the most annoying show I've ever seen.

What is your dream car?
The new Dodge Challenger. It is a very sharp muscle car! They remind me a lot of the old Challengers.

What is your favorite saying or quote?
Never leave that till tomorrow which you can do today.
