From staff reports
Copies of "Appalachia Rising: Stories of Hope and Achievement from Ohio's Appalachian Hills and Valleys" are once again available at Bobcat Essentials.
Created as an award-winning editorial series in Compass, the University's official online news source, "Appalachia Rising" was repurposed into a book highlighting initiatives through which the OHIO community is enriching lives across the region.
The book, developed by University Communications and Marketing (UCM) and published by Ohio University Press, was published in late 2012. Copies of the book initially provided to Bobcat Essentials sold out but were recently restocked.
Through 17 feature-length articles, "Appalachia Rising" puts a face on the many ways Ohio University is serving its neighboring communities and working hand-in-hand with its neighbors to realize their individual and collective promises.
"I am so pleased to see how well-received this book has been among the OHIO community," said UCM Executive Director Renea Morris. "'Appalachia Rising' is a testament to Ohio University's commitment to the region it calls home. It is a point of pride for the entire OHIO family."
The book is available for individual purchase at Bobcat Essentials on the fourth floor of Baker University Center. Institutional and bulk orders may be purchased through University Communications and Marketing at http://www.ohio.edu/compass/appalachia/index.cfm.
