The People's Bank robbery suspect in question.
Jul 12, 2013
From staff reports
On Friday, July 12, Ohio University Police Chief Andrew Powers sent the following message to the University community regarding a suspected bank robber's connection to the Athens Campus:
Dear University Community,
Earlier this week, the Athens City Police Department issued a press release stating that they were investigating a bank robbery that occurred at People's Bank on East State Street around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 8. Attached to the press release was a picture of the suspect which appears below. The suspect was subsequently identified and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is still at large at this time.
Earlier today, it came to the attention of OUPD that the suspect has several personal connections to the Athens Campus of Ohio University. We have no information to suggest the suspect is currently in the Athens Campus area, but in an abundance of caution we are sharing this information with our community.
If anyone sees this individual on campus, s/he should immediately contact OUPD by either calling directly at 740-593-1911 or by dialing 911. Although no weapon was observed by witnesses during the robbery, the suspect should still be treated with caution and members of the public should call the police rather than approaching him themselves.
Andrew Powers, Chief
Ohio University Police Department
