This year's Bobcat Student Orientation (BSO) is heading into its third and final week, and the memories being made by the nearly 10,000 new students and their guests attending the event will surely last a lifetime.
BSO kicked off on July 11 and ends Aug. 3. More than 4,000 students were expected to attend the orientation sessions in their first official visit to campus as OHIO Bobcats. Among those students are nearly 3,700 first-year students and more than 300 transfer students. In addition, more than 5,600 parents or guests of incoming OHIO Bobcats registered for BSO.
The goal of BSO is to allow new OHIO students and their guests to meet with faculty, staff and students and to prepare for fall semester through academic integration and socialization.
"Our new Bobcats seem prepared and excited to join the OHIO community," said Jenny Klein, assistant dean of student persistence and success who oversees OHIO's orientation program. "We are certainly ready for them and hope they all have an excellent orientation experience that prepares them for a very successful fall semester."
"It has been wonderful to meet our students, parents and families during Bobcat Student Orientation," said Jenny Hall-Jones, associate vice president for student affairs and dean of students. "The energy and excitement that BSO brings to the rest of campus is contagious, and I'm looking forward to the fall!"
