The annual benefits open enrollment period has begun, and this year's benefits open enrollment will be conducted online. All employees are asked to participate in the open enrollment process.
During open enrollment, employees:
The open enrollment period will close at 11:59 p.m., Friday, May 2. Any enrollment decisions made will be effective July 1.
The major components of the university's health, dental, and vision plans (deductibles, copays, benefit levels, etc.) for faculty, administrators and classified staff will remain the same for fiscal/plan year 2014-15. The Affordable Care Act requires that health plan deductibles, co-insurance, and copays be capped at $6,350 for individual plans and $12,700 for family plans. The University’s health plans provide 100 percent coverage at significantly lower amounts than the required cap. However, to comply with including copays in a cap, the University has established a new copay cap, as described in the summary of benefits. The salary brackets used for premiums are adjusted for the PPO and HMO plans. The employee’s share of premiums will continue to be set at 15 percent of the overall cost of health plans. Dental premiums are changed slightly for the upcoming year.
As a reminder, federal healthcare legislation allows employees to provide healthcare coverage to their children up to age 26 regardless of financial dependence, student status, or marital status. Coverage includes medical, prescription and vision. Dental coverage also is available.
Under Ohio law, employees can purchase healthcare (medical and prescription only) coverage for eligible children between the ages of 26 and 28, for an additional premium. More details regarding eligibility of adult children and the additional premiums are available at: http://www.ohio.edu/hr/benefits/healthcare/eligibility.cfm. (When adding dependents to benefits, employees are required to answer all the questions regarding each covered dependent, regardless of age.)

Employees will use their University email ID and password to enter the open enrollment website. Employees may login to the open enrollment website as many times as they wish, and make changes at any time through the May 2 deadline. Please save or print the confirmation statement following the authorization page, as this will be the only record of completion.
