From staff reports
Ohio University has launched the 2014 The Promise Within Faculty & Staff Campaign, once again demonstrating the collective power of OHIO’s faculty and staff.
Since the beginning of The Promise Lives Campaign, more than 1,300 faculty and staff have contributed more than $3.9 million in private support for our University through The Promise Within Faculty & Staff Campaign.
“Thank you to all who have contributed in the past year and who will contribute in the year to come,” said Ohio University Provost Pam Benoit, whose office is championing this special campaign for the second consecutive year. “The passion that our faculty and staff have for Ohio University is undeniable. Your generosity is one way that you demonstrate commitment to our mission to provide a transformative educational experience for our students.”
In fiscal 2013, more than 668 OHIO employees gave back $786,363 in support of the University. Of those, 313 filled out a simple payroll deduction form. Using this form, an employee can make a one-time contribution or set-up a recurring gift. For example, an employee could make a $120 annual gift from one paycheck, or spread that gift out over a 12-month period for $5 per paycheck.
Already in fiscal 2014, 522 employees have made contributions through The Ohio University Foundation totaling some $828,440.
Leading The Promise Within Campaign this year are three OHIO employees selected to serve as tri-chairs: Trustee Professor of English Sam Crowl; Director and General Manager of The WOUB Center for Public Media and Joe Berman Professor of Communication Tom Hodson; and Executive Assistant in the Office of Regional Higher Education and eLearning Kim Hayden.
Combined, the tri-chairs share more than 100 years of experience at Ohio University and represent a broad array of philanthropic interests – from support for scholarships and academic programs to athletics and public TV and radio.
“Many opportunities available to the University community would not be possible without support from faculty and staff,” said Benoit. “One meaningful aspect of this Campaign is that employees give to the programs and initiatives that they are passionate about. They give to the colleges and campuses that granted their degrees, to the Libraries, to the arts, and more. This high-level of internal support is an important signal to alumni and friends. It says that those of us who live and work here are committed to the University’s success.”
The Promise Within Faculty & Staff Campaign is part of The Promise Lives Campaign, which kicked-off in April 2012 and already has raised more than $447 million toward its goal of raising $450 million in support of students, faculty, and programs by June 20, 2015.
