Zanesville Campus to host musical based on Aaron Burr's life

Writer-composer David Schubach will present a musical based on the life of Aaron Burr at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21, in the Elson Hall Auditorium on the Ohio University Zanesville Campus.

This controversial and polarizing figure from our nation's youngest days is revered by some, reviled by others. While serving as Thomas Jefferson's vice president, Burr killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel. But was Burr the traitor, murderer, speculator and philanderer that he was accused of being? You decide.

Schubach presents an entertaining overview of Burr's tempestuous life and times.

Burr's life spans from the founding of the country to the expansion of the West. He had grand plans for all, which set many unexpected consequences in motion. It is a story of surprising twists and epic proportions involving many familiar names from the early days of the republic.

As well as relating the story, Schubach will speak about the process of molding the tale into a musical drama.
