From staff reports
The seventh-annual Ohio University Gingerbread House Decorating Contest will take place Wednesday, Dec. 18 in the Maggie Davis and West 82 seating area on the first floor of the Baker University Center.
The contest is sponsored annually by Ohio University Culinary Services.
Team RTEC, from Ohio University's Graduate College and the Vice President for Research and Creative Activity, won last year's competition.
Culinary Services management staff judges the Gingerbread Decorating Contest. They evaluate each entry based on creativity, complexity and the edibility of the construction.
Each team will be rewarded for its participation; the top three teams will receive gift certificates for two large, one-topping brick oven pizzas from West 82 Food Court.
The 2013 team registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 13, and the entry fee is $20 per team.
Additional contest details:
The houses must be constructed between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Judging will begin at 3:15 p.m. and winners will be announced shortly thereafter.
Gingerbread, white icing and sundry decorating items will be supplied. Teams are welcome to bring their own decorating items, but no additional gingerbread can be used in the construction.
All decorating materials must be edible.
