From staff reports
The Campus Public Safety Department at Ohio University Zanesville and Zane State College are hosting a stranger danger and Halloween safety event for children at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Campus Center conference rooms.
During the event, officers will discuss stranger danger and Halloween safety topics and other fun events are planned as well.
Children are welcome to dress up in their Halloween costumes. They will parade through the Campus Center area collecting goodies from the Ohio University Continuing Education, Public Relations and Student Services departments; the Psi Beta Honor Society for psychology majors and the psychology department; the Learning Advancement Center; Future Educators of OU Zanesville and the education department; the Zanesville Campus Bookstore; the Zane State College Account Club, Administrative Office Assistant Club, Criminal Justice Program, Medical Assisting Club, Paralegal Club, Phi Theta Kappa, and Student Services; the Zanesville Campus Library; the Zanesville Campus Facilities Management Department; Big Brothers Big Sisters; and the Muskingum County Sheriff's Office.
The event is free and open to children of students and employees along with children from the community. There will be a surprise appearance from a couple of Ohio University Zanesville's Future Educators superheroes, so bring your camera for a photo opportunity.
The Muskingum County Sheriff's Office will also be on hand to issue free child ID cards to parents. To ensure a child's safety and well-being, law enforcement personnel recommend having a child identification card that includes a current photo, physical characteristics, personal information, fingerprint sample and tips for what to do if your child is missing.
