The University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA) will host "Risky Business: A Week Focusing on Risk Management's Contributions to Higher Education," a week dedicated to the value of risk management in higher education on Nov. 4-8.
The week aims to build awareness of how risk management can provide innovative and effective solutions to the challenges facing institutions of higher education in the pursuit of their academic, social, and economic goals. The week also will help create a culture of risk management and better protect students and individuals served by institutions of higher education.
Recognizing that Risk Management is an ongoing, year-round process for OHIO, as evidenced by its Risk Management Initiatives, OHIO will spread the word about risk management on our campuses, using a variety of resources including print-on-demand materials made available at the Risky Business website.
OHIO will also take part in webinars, accessible through the URMIA site, highlighting some of the common goals of university risk management, as well as the latest risks facing higher education. The schedule of planned webinars is noted below.
In support of Risky Business Week, OHIO's Risk Management (RM) Office will forward these links to those departments whose areas of responsibility stand to benefit the most by this information, and provide a link through the RM website, thereby facilitating easy access to all those interested in learning more about risk management and higher education.
The week will recognize the risk management professionals who advocate for students, faculty, staff, and the institutions and communities they serve. The week will encourage stakeholders to work with their risk managers to create a culture of risk management that spans the entire year.
