OHIO’s Marching 110 goes viral again with 'Gangnam Style'

With approximately 5.1 million YouTube views prior to its removal and reposting, “The Most Exciting Band in the Land” is making headlines again as people from around the world watch Ohio University’s Marching 110 perform Korean rapper Psy’s viral hit “Gangnam Style.”

The band rocked the crowd with their Gangnam-inspired dance moves at last week’s football game.

“A student showed me the “Gangnam Style” video three weeks ago,” explained Band Director Richard Suk “We laughed through the whole thing. I then talked to the staff and we decided to program it for this past week's game.”

It’s a good thing they did, too, because their off-beat performance went viral and caught the eye of national media, including the “Today Show” with Ohio University alumnus Matt Lauer. The program featured a clip of the “Gangnam Style” video on Tuesday morning’s broadcast.

“I think the success of the Marching 110 video is due to the enormous popularity of Psy's 'Gangnam Style' video,” said Suk “Couple that with the enthusiasm of the band's performance and the energy of the crowd, and you have a hit.”

OHIO’s Marching 110 knows how to make a hit-- their “Party Rock Anthem” performance last year accumulated more than 8 million views.
“We are very honored that people throughout the world want to watch us perform. Last year's “Party Rock” video success was a treat for the band and this is more icing on the cake,” saaid Suk.
