From staff reports
On Friday, Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding sent an email to University community members alerting them that local law enforcement is monitoring a series of threats to college campuses around the nation. Here is the text from the email:
Around noon today, the Ohio University Police Department (OUPD) was notified by State Homeland Security that there were three bomb threats on university campuses across the United States.
All of the threats were investigated and nothing was found.
OUPD Police Chief Andrew Powers indicated that it is not known if these incidents are related; however, he said his department is closely monitoring the incidents. Any significant changes to this situation will be communicated via the most appropriate emergency communication systems.
As a reminder, Ohio University has numerous emergency communication systems in place to alert the campus in the case of an emergency. To find out more about these systems, visit the Ohio University Emergency Page at www.ohio.edu/emergency.
Anyone who witnesses suspicious behavior should report it to OUPD at 740-593-1911 or dial 911 to report emergency situations.
